Ngipin ni Mommy, Ngipin ni Baby A Dental Learning Field Trip for South PiNanays

Who would have thought that going to a dental clinic can be so much fun!!!

They said, once a doctor was immersed in public health, she will forever have her heart in Public Health. And that literally happened to me. As a previous Doctor-to-the-Barrio, today, this is one of my ways how I can still promote public health.

The lecture and experience I had in Cavite Pediatric Dentistry Center was too good to be kept to myself, so I helped organize the public dental education for my fellow moms in South of Luzon.   Here it goes….

September 28, 2014, Sunday. I and my fellow mommies of the South of Luzon had our fun-filled learning activity in a Cavite Pediatric Dentistry Center, in South Asian Medical Clinic in Molino, Cavite.

Actually, this is part of the series of my previous post:

How to save more than 50,000 Pesos by just bringing your child to a Pediatric Dentist

If you haven’t read it then, then you can read it after you read this post.

This is merely a collection of fun we did in the clinic:

1. We did a puppet show for the kids

Kids and moms as well as daddies had so much fun watching, “Popoy – the puppet.” Here, the kids got to learn the importance of brushing their teeth the fun way.

2. Free Dental Check-up for all kids

Mommies were taught how to position their child, and how to actually clean well their kids’ teeth. Some babies, including mine were not fond of this, they actually cried, screamed and yelled, (oh, you can just imagine!).

But for some, mommies were surprised that their kids were really excited to sit in a dental chair and opened their mouths wide in anticipation.

3. Dental Lecture for Parents

This is the much serious part. Parents were given lectures by Dr. Ryan (Pedia dentist) regarding facts and myths regarding baby’s teeth. The great part is, the status of each child’s teeth were clearly explained. Mommies has so many “Aha moments” and questions that were cleared by the lecture.

I feel sorry for those who were not able to attend. They’ve missed a lot. But because of this success, I believe we can still organize a few more of these.

Once more, I would wish to thank you Dr. Ryan De Guzman and Dr. Rosalie Mae De Guzman for imparting so much to us.  Till next time!
